The Owasso City Council on March 18 accepted the East 90 Sixth Street North roadway improvements and authorized a final payment of $201,978.95 to the contractor, bringing the final contract total to $2,809,090.96.
City transportation staff said the work, originally awarded in June 2024, included additional turn lanes at intersections with US-169 and reconstruction of a service road to the Home Depot entrance, new traffic signalization and striping, and purchase of signal poles for a later west-phase of the project. Staff said the final contract is about $83,807.74 under the original contract amount.
Earl Farris, presenting the item, told council the June 2024 contract award was for $2,892,898.70 and that all work met standards for acceptance in March 2025. Farris said the signal poles for the west phase were ordered and are currently stored in the city yard so they will be available when the next phase begins; the city would still pay to install those poles later but not for their purchase.
Council members asked whether the underrun was due to unused allowances or other savings; staff replied the project fit within allowances and the underrun reflected realized savings. No members of the public signed to speak on the item.
The council approved the acceptance and final payment by voice and roll call.
