The Placer County Parks Commission opened its March 20 meeting with two resolutions recognizing longtime commissioners and concluded officer elections for the coming year.
The commission adopted a resolution acknowledging and thanking Dave Tooker for nearly 18 years of service as the commissioner representing the Third Supervisorial District from Jan. 9, 2007, to Dec. 31, 2024. Commissioners voted in favor by voice vote.
Tooker addressed the commission briefly: “The commitment of the Parks Commission and the commitment of our Board of Supervisors to parks and trails and open space is admirable,” he said, adding that participating on the commission had been “truly a blessing.”
The commission also approved a resolution recognizing John Bergman for more than six years of service representing the Fifth Supervisorial District, including service as commission chair in 2022–2023. Bergman was not present; staff said the resolution will be delivered to him.
The commission then took nominations and elected Anne Carpenter as chair, Jeremy McCollum as vice chair and Richard as secretary for the coming year. Each nomination was approved by voice vote.
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the agenda for the March 20 meeting and accepted the minutes from the Sept. 9 and Oct. 24, 2024 meetings, each by voice vote; one abstention was recorded for the Oct. 24 minutes.
The meeting adjourned after a brief discussion of upcoming outreach events and a motion to recess for refreshments.
