The Garland Community Multicultural Commission discussed outreach materials and how best to present a visible, unified presence at events during its March 20 meeting.
Members reviewed existing branded items and debated whether to order vests, windbreakers or jackets for cooler weather, and whether to order additional polo shirts. Commissioners favored high-visibility vests for parades, cleanups and outdoor events and discussed ordering a modest inventory rather than one item per member. "I think the vest might be more practical," one commissioner said during the discussion, while another suggested a windbreaker could allow for a larger logo on the back.
The group also reviewed previously ordered business cards that contained a QR code linking to resources; they agreed to decide at a future meeting whether future QR codes should link to the city website, the CMC meeting schedule, or another resource. City staff said they would confirm the smallest practical print run so individual members who need physical cards can receive them quickly.
Staff confirmed the commission's tent had been received and agreed to provide a photo of the tent at the next meeting. Commissioners asked staff to check on sizes and quantities for shirts and outerwear, and to return cost options and a recommended minimum order for approval.
No formal purchase motion was made at the meeting; the commission asked staff to return with pricing and sample images so members could vote on ordering at the next meeting.
