Dane County Board adopts resolution honoring McFarland boys swim team state title

The Dane County Board of Supervisors on March 2025 adopted Resolution 2024-3-67 congratulating the McFarland High School boys swim team for winning the 2025 WIAA Division II state championship.
The resolution, introduced and read at the meeting by County Board Chair Patrick Miles, said the Spartans captured their second consecutive Division II state title and set multiple record performances, citing individual wins by Shane Tabiste, Blake Debeest and others and relay records in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle.
"I'm really proud of these guys for all their effort," said Patrick Miles, chair of the Dane County Board of Supervisors. "Their capacity to support each other toward a common goal is their greatest talent." Justin Harrington, the team's head coach, told supervisors he graduated from McFarland and returned this season as coach; he described the team's cohesion and leadership as key to repeating as champions.
The resolution names team members and coaches and directs copies be presented to the coaches and members of the team. The motion was moved by Chair Miles and seconded by Supervisor Brower; the board voted to adopt the resolution.
Copies of the resolution will be presented to the team and coaches as noted in the adopted text.
