Committee hears MMB bill to shift due date for uncollectible-debt report; laid over

Senate File 1737, a Minnesota Management and Budget agency bill to change the due date for the report on uncollectible debt, was presented Thursday in the Senate State and Local Government Committee and laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.
Senator Carlson introduced the measure and said it is a simple agency bill that updates the report due date. Eric Anderson, legislative director at MMB, explained the report was established in 2019 and that in the six editions produced so far staff have found they lacked sufficient time to collect and reconcile agency data before the current statutory deadline. Anderson asked for a few additional weeks to submit the report in the best possible shape.
Committee members had no further questions. The committee laid Senate File 1737 over for possible inclusion; no final committee vote to pass the bill was recorded at the hearing.
