Commissioners review CIP amendments, approve courthouse maintenance plan including replacement of obsolete revolving door

Sedgwick County facilities staff told the Board of County Commissioners that several capital improvement project amendments would increase project budgets and that the county needs to replace obsolete equipment at the main courthouse.
Andrew Dale, Director of Facilities, told commissioners one courthouse revolving door has been down for some time because replacement parts are obsolete; staff proposed replacing the door with an estimated budget of about $65,000. Dale also said a Liebert humidity-control unit used in records management has failed; it contains R-22 refrigerant that is no longer available, so staff proposed replacing the unit and upgrading refrigerant systems at an estimated cost of about $30,000. Dale said project contingency funds are included and any remaining funds will return to the CIP reserve.
Commissioners were also briefed on multiple CIP amendments tied to road and bridge work. Fiscal notes read aloud for several items showed proposed engineering or project increases: item T $21,854, item U $20,000, item V $12,500, item W $10,000 and item X $50,000. County staff said these are amendments for project development and reflect higher proposal costs for engineering services.
