Lubbock ISD trustees review draft board operating procedures, plan Oct. 30 vote

Trustees at a Lubbock ISD workshop reviewed a draft set of board operating procedures intended to guide conduct, agenda development and board governance, and agreed to return the document for possible approval at the Oct. 30 meeting.
The draft, presented to trustees as a product of the SGS board pilot training, incorporates provisions drawn from three other districts and covers sections including a board code of ethics; meeting agenda development; conduct during meetings; individual member requests for information; campus visits; inquiries and complaints to the board; communications; electing officers and committees; board communications with legal counsel; superintendent evaluation; board self‑evaluation; and procedures for addressing compliance concerns.
Presenter (identified in the meeting as Doctor O'Holl) asked trustees to review the document and return any suggested edits to staff before the Oct. 30 agenda item. Trustees identified a minor formatting correction — changing a subsection label to ‘‘a’’ and ‘‘b’’ in the electing officers section — and said they will provide any final suggested edits to staff prior to the meeting.
No formal vote was taken at the workshop; trustees said the draft will be presented for consideration and possible approval at the Oct. 30 meeting.
