The Blaine City Council on March 3 approved a preliminary plat for 19.24 acres that will create two single‑family lots, 28 townhome lots, one outlot and common space in a development‑flex zone.
City Planner Salman said the site had previously received rezoning, a comp plan amendment and a CUP; the applicant had already obtained a one permitted extension for final plat recording that expired and the applicant reapplied. Planner Salman said Anoka County approved access for a new street off 120th Fifth and that the development will be required to meet the city’s landscaping requirement of three trees per unit, which equates to 84 trees; the applicant must replace eight removed trees as part of the application.
The planning commission recommended approval and no public comments were received at the Feb. 11 hearing, Salman said. A motion to approve the preliminary plat was moved by Council Member Robertson, seconded by Council Member Fleming, and carried on voice vote.
