A representative of the Community Development Citizens Advisory Committee reported to the commissions work session that the committee reviewed, scored and ranked 43 applications for FY2026 Community Development Fund support and recommended funding 33 programs.
The speaker said total funding requests submitted to the committee totaled “almost $1,800,000.” The committee emphasized it used a competitive, equity-focused scoring process and increased minimum grant amounts to reflect rising costs; that change reduced the overall number of awards the committee recommended this year.
Committee members said they seek closer coordination across other competitive county grant programs to avoid duplication and to align priorities. The committee also invited commissioners and staff to attend its April 2 Community Development Bus Tour, a site-visit day where members will examine program operations financed by the grants.
Ending: The committee said it will provide its formal recommendations to county staff as part of the FY2026 budget review process and will continue outreach and site visits to inform future recommendations.
