Huber Heights Parks & Recreation releases summer schedule: farmers market, concerts, youth programs

Huber Heights Parks & Recreation staff presented an extensive summer schedule that includes a farmers market, a music series, youth field day, community parades and multiple family-oriented events.
Staff said the Farmers Market at The Heights will open May 10 and run through Oct. 11. Cloud Park food-truck rallies are scheduled every other Tuesday from May through September. Staff also plans weekly story time in June at Cloud Park in partnership with the Dayton Metro Library Huber Heights branch and story time in July at Shoalmay Park.
The board heard a lineup of bands and special events: The Venues (opening family-friendly cover band), Reel 2 Reel, Run Kitty Run, Dasty Bigo (local folk-rock), a Jimmy Buffett tribute band (Parents of the Caribbean), and a season-closing brass/Chicago-tribute show. The Little Mermaid touring production and a Juneteenth concert were also on the calendar. The Star Stable Heights parade, festival and fireworks are scheduled for June 28.
Youth-focused offerings include a Youth Field Day on June 10, a youth fishing class (date TBD) run in partnership with Rainbow Lakes, and Skyhawks day camps to be piloted at Community Park and Cloud Park. Staff said Skyhawks will supply program instructors while the city provides space.
Other items: the community garden on Powell Road has about five open plots; the cost is $20 for the year and includes bed, soil, water access and volunteer ambassador support. Staff asked board members to volunteer for events such as the parade and festival.
Why it matters: The schedule ties city events, vendor opportunities and youth programming into a single season of activities meant to increase park use and community engagement.
Ending: Staff asked the board to promote events and be prepared to volunteer on busy dates such as the June 28 festival; registration will be required for youth field day and some pre-registered packages (for example, charcuterie packages for date-night events).
