The Historic Architectural Review Board on March 20 approved a certificate of appropriateness for work at 103 Marine Street and continued a separate demolition-related application at 503 Evergreen Avenue to its April 17 meeting.
Staff told the board that the application for 103 Marine Street met rehabilitation standards and recommended issuance of the certificate of appropriateness. The board voted to approve the staff recommendation; the roll call recorded affirmative votes from Paul Weaver, Catherine Duncan, Linda Potter, Randall Rourke and Gary McDonald.
The board also considered HP2025-0010, a proposal affecting 503 Evergreen Avenue. Staff reported receipt of letters from nearby residents opposing the project over concerns about changes to neighborhood density and massing. The property owners and the listed applicant (a demolition contractor) were not present in the hearing room. Board members said due‑process considerations and the applicants’ absence weighed in favor of continuing the item so the owners could attend or be represented. The board voted to continue the matter to the April 17 hearing and asked staff to obtain written confirmation from the owners if they intend to waive appearance rights.
The approvals and continuance were taken as separate roll-call items on the expedited portion of the agenda.
