The mayor cited a figure in the proclamation that in Tarrant County 4,719 children were confirmed victims of child abuse or neglect into 2024 and recognized the work of the Alliance for Children in providing trauma-informed prevention, investigation and treatment programs.
"Now therefore be it resolved, I, Larry Marshall, mayor of our city of Benbrook, Texas, do hereby proclaim the month of April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the city of Benbrook, Texas," the proclamation said. Because representatives from the Alliance for Children were not present, no plaque was presented at the meeting.
Council did not take a formal vote on the proclamation during the meeting; it was read into the record as presented by the mayor.
