Bay County Special Magistrate accepted code enforcement’s recommendation on March 20 and ordered the respondent for 2335 Douglas Road, Lot J to bring the property into compliance within 30 days or incur a $1,000 fine; the magistrate also authorized county staff and contractors to enter the property to abate violations and to record abatement costs as liens.
Inspector Scott Thorpe (presenting for code enforcement) said the case had previously gone before the special magistrate on Feb. 13, 2025, and had been found in violation of Bay County Code section 17-2 for an unfit or unsafe structure and overgrowth. He reported that a reinspection on March 17 found the property remained in violation and that no engineering reports or permit applications had been submitted.
The magistrate ordered the respondent have 30 days to comply with the order or face the $1,000 fine and directed that the staff may abate the nuisance and record all incidental enforcement costs as liens against the property and other real or personal property owned by the respondent. The order will be entered in the public record and enforcement may be collected pursuant to the Uniform Assessment Collection Act and chapter 21 of the Bay County Code.
