San Antonio City Council voted March 20 to approve a rezoning request that changes the zoning of a property on North Loop to MF-33 to allow multifamily development.
Staff reported 59 notices were mailed and that no opposition letters were received. The project was presented as a large multifamily proposal; a commenter expressed concerns about placing residential development between commercial and industrial properties, saying residents later sometimes regret that placement, but the council discussed the project as appropriate for the site.
A member representing the council’s office said the developer had worked with the office and neighborhood stakeholders and that the project would produce housing in District 10. After a motion and brief discussion, the council voted to approve the rezoning; the clerk announced the motion carried.
The approval permits the property owner to pursue development consistent with MF-33 zoning; subsequent site plans and building permits are required before construction may begin.
