"So our goal is to achieve 94.1 average daily attendance rate by the end of the school year in each building," the superintendent said, adding that teacher practices and consistent formative assessments will drive instructional improvement.
Board members and advisory council members reviewed a 77-page draft; the superintendent said district staff distilled that work into a shorter action plan for the board packet. The draft was revised after advisory-council feedback; the superintendent said the council repeatedly noted the importance of the term "engage," which appears through the plan alongside definitions for engaged staff, students and community.
During discussion board members praised the work of district staff and advisory participants. After questions, Tina (board secretary) conducted a roll call: Mr. Benitez, Mr. Burns, Dr. Davidson, Mr. Davis, Mrs. Dickinson, Mr. Gray, Mrs. Rippon and Mr. Shatzer all voted yes. The board president announced "all 8 board members in favor." The motion carried.
The superintendent said the final plan will be posted to the district website following tonight's action and will be submitted to the state for approval as required. The plan includes district-wide and building-level interim goals and aligned strategies; building-level plans will be developed to implement the district goals.
Board members and staff said the advisory council work and the February Act 80 teacher sessions were central to drafting realistic interim measures and strategies. The superintendent said a full public copy of the plan will be available on the district website after any final administrative processing.
The board's approval begins the district's formal implementation period for the 2025'2028 plan; the superintendent signaled continued monitoring and building-level planning in the coming months.
