Council members also discussed award categories for the legislative breakfast. The subcommittee proposed continuing categories for self-advocacy, business champion and legislative champion and adding an “innovative initiatives” category with three subcategories: employment, community living and enhancing independence. Members said the new category would allow recognition of local projects such as micro-business supports and other emerging programs.
