The Mayor's Youth Council discussed plans for a youth trivia night and a term-completion celebration at its March 18 meeting.
Suhoo (education equity committee) described the trivia night as a “Jeopardy”-style event to teach middle-school students how city government works. She said the council lacked outreach last year and proposed more promotion, including Instagram and Canva posters, and partnering with the City of Houston Youth Ambassadors and YPAC to increase attendance.
Members suggested two timing options: host the trivia night at the last meeting of the current term in June or schedule it in August when a new term begins; staff noted that many seniors may be gone by mid-June and recommended polling members on availability. Council leaders also discussed holding a group dinner as a celebratory event near the end of the term.
