County refers trailer bids to staff for review after three submissions

The bid opening included at least three proposals: Hoyt Trailer Center (Topeka) at $41,600 with estimated delivery three months after approval; a Phoenix-based bidder with a higher price and a roughly three-month delivery estimate; and a third bid in the $69,000 range with an estimated 12-week delivery. The clerk read the unit prices and delivery estimates aloud during the meeting.
After the bid summaries, a commissioner moved to refer the bids to staff for review and recommendation. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Why it matters: Referring procurement bids to staff begins the county's standard review process, during which staff will check specifications, warranties and delivery; staff recommendations will return to the commission for a final award decision.
