Fishline reports rising demand: more households served, over 1 million pounds of food distributed in 2024

Charlie Thompson, executive director of Fishline, presented the nonprofit’s 2024 annual report to the council on March 19, saying the organization served more households and distributed more food compared with prior years.
Thompson reported Fishline served about 3,000 unique households in 2024 (up from about 2,240 in 2023 and roughly 1,500 in 2022) and recorded roughly 30,000 market visits during the year. He told council Fishline distributed more than 1,000,000 pounds of food and supplied roughly $82,000 in non-food items; Fishline also provided about $100,000 in direct financial assistance for rent and utilities and 17,700 mental-health or related appointments through partner programs.
Thompson said Fishline opened Saturday market hours and that Fishline Thrift and Second Season Boutique together generated significant earned revenue—about $600,000—helping diversify the nonprofit’s income alongside $1.3 million in charitable donations. Fishline aims to add a mobile food-market vehicle later in 2025 to serve broader areas in Kitsap County.
Councilmembers thanked Fishline and noted volunteers and donors support the organization’s operations. Thompson asked citizens to continue donating food, clothing and volunteer hours and described the thrift stores’ donation hours and drop-off locations.
