Staff said the agreement also covers annual maintenance of about $37,000.
Assistant City Manager (presentation lead) explained the existing system is standalone and not compatible with the city's new financial software. The staff report, summarized at the meeting, said the contract will provide improved integration for inbound and outbound transaction lanes and help staff verify load types for accurate charging.
Councilmember questions focused on cost and procurement. Staff said the project was put out for proposals and that Paradigm was the most cost-effective responsive vendor; staff said the existing vendor could not meet integration requirements.
A motion to approve the resolution was moved and seconded. The clerk called the roll; the council recorded unanimous approval. The clerk's roll call recorded votes in the affirmative by Mayor Patino, Councilmember Soto, Councilmember Aguilera Hernandez, Councilmember Flores and Councilmember Escobedo.
The upgrade is intended to modernize transaction processing at the landfill and reduce manual reconciliation by integrating scale data and camera images with the city's financial system.
