The Escondido City Council voted unanimously to approve initiation of an annexation application after staff disclosed that the project description attached to the agenda contained an error and that the applicant supplied a corrected description.
During the discussion of item 5, staff told the council the annexation policy requires the applicant to submit a letter requesting the council's approval to initiate the annexation and noted the posted attachment included an incorrect project description. Staff said they had distributed a revised project description for council review and that the staff report and recommendation remained unchanged.
A motion to initiate the annexation application passed 5-0. The record shows the council approved initiation; the staff report and staff recommendation were not altered and the revised project description replaced the incorrect text in the agenda packet.
The council did not record additional conditions or amendments to the initiation, and no further votes were taken on annexation at that meeting. Staff closed the item after the council's vote.
