Mayor Dane White and the Escondido City Council presented a proclamation to Dr. Natria D. Carroll on behalf of Chebak Hope and Resource Center for organizing donations to victims of recent fires in Los Angeles.
The proclamation, read during the meeting’s certificates of recognition, said Carroll and her organization collected more than five U-Haul truckloads of items and rallied community support to ship the donations to affected families. The mayor and all council members signed the document recognizing her efforts.
Council member Fitzgerald introduced Carroll and described the center as a nonprofit operating at the North County Fair Mall that serves residents in need, including young mothers and families requiring food and clothing. Fitzgerald said Carroll organized the donation effort without seeking publicity and credited an unnamed community member who paid transportation costs.
The council encouraged residents to consider volunteering or donating to the organization and thanked Carroll for her service to Escondido.
The presentation was ceremonial; no formal action beyond the proclamation was recorded.
