At the meeting, staff described the subdivision as largely constructed but not yet recorded and said missing items included some fencing and final infrastructure details. Applicant Michael LaBarge told the council his engineer had been slow and that he hoped for “90 days, I hope. I’m hoping I only need 30.” Council discussion shifted the approved extension to a longer period; one council member said, “You have 9 months, Michael,” and the extension was approved.
Staff noted a practical problem: without an approved extension, the way the subdivision was constructed does not fully match code and could require rework. Council members also raised a related procedural issue: whether people seeking extensions should be current on property taxes. One councilor asked staff to investigate adding tax-delinquency language to the city code and the council directed staff to bring information back.
The motion to approve the extension was made, seconded and carried; recorded votes included “Aye” from Council members Lisa, Kevin, Craig and Jeff. The council added that if the applicant still needed more time after the approved extension, the council would have discretion to consider additional relief.
The council moved on to the next agenda item after the vote.
