Craig Hall (community proponent) described potential 9- and 18-hole layouts, grant opportunities through the Utah Outdoor Recreation program (minimum grant ~$30,000 was cited), and options to install removable sleeves so course features can be removed for other park uses.
Commissioners said the idea has recreational and potential economic benefits, especially if it attracts tournaments, but raised concerns about the county’s capacity to lead construction and long-term maintenance. They encouraged proponents to identify specific sites (property boundaries, RDA lands or town-owned parcels), consult with town officials in Dutch John and return with a mapped proposal, community support and a maintenance plan. One suggested path: proponents write the grant and have the county or town sign as partner; another was to locate courses on town/RDA parcels where local partners would manage upkeep.
No formal county action was taken. Commissioners asked that proponents return with site maps and clearer commitments from local partners before the county invests staff time or capital resources.
