The Daggett County Commission on March 18 conditionally approved two Tourism, Recreation and Tourism (TRT) reimbursements and voted to send a 90-day termination notice to the Flaming Gorge Chamber of Commerce under the existing memorandum of understanding (MOU).
After reviewing 2024 and 2025 charges the chamber submitted, the commission voted to approve a 2024 TRT reimbursement of $36,548.14 and a 2025 chamber reimbursement of $14,073.55 on the condition that the county auditor verifies the backup documentation needed for state TRT reporting. Commissioner discussion emphasized that payment would not be released until the auditor signs off on the supporting receipts and reports.
Separately, the commission moved to initiate the 90-day termination process for the county’s MOU with the Flaming Gorge Chamber of Commerce, citing the MOU’s termination clause (item 4). Commissioners discussed sending a clean, formal notice referencing the MOU and its effective date (listed in the MOU as 01/01/2020) and agreed the county attorney or county staff (Kent) would finalize the letter for signature. The motion to begin the 90-day notice passed with commissioners voting “Aye.”
Commissioners and chamber staff also discussed outstanding cooperative marketing work: the chamber reported that a cooperative project has $15,000 of county funds due when the contractor completes the project; the county has received a partial payout from state coop funds ($11,156.25) and has unspent TRT balances carried forward. The commission agreed that future chamber requests would follow the TRT board or contract process once the MOU is closed out.
Motion and vote: The commission approved the two reimbursements conditionally on the auditor’s review and voted to send 90-day notice to terminate the MOU; votes were recorded as affirmative with formal motions and seconds noted in the minutes.
