The proposed new 113 (special education) would replace the older 113.1 structure; the district also plans to move its club-sports guidance into the 123 series for extracurriculars. Staff said the student assistance program policy and the threat-assessment policy (current draft 236.1) are also being added so references in other policies have a direct policy citation.
Board members asked for clarification on threat assessment. Dr. DeShong explained the threat-assessment team is formed in each building and typically includes mental-health therapists, school counselors, case workers and building administrators. He said the team uses an assessment tool to identify the level of concern and to match students with supports or community resources aimed at reducing risk and improving access to learning.
