The San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District presented the City of Baldwin Park with an inaugural “Excellence in Engagement and Collaboration” award during the council meeting on March 19 for the city’s role in the district’s response to multiple dengue cases in fall 2024.
Anais Medina Diaz, director of communications for the district, told the council the award recognized Baldwin Park’s partnership with the district and Los Angeles County public-health authorities to provide residents timely information, schedule mosquito-control treatments and communicate prevention strategies. Medina Diaz singled out City Manager Saldivar, district trustees and Councilmember Estrada for collaboration and said the district presented the award at its board of trustees meeting on March 14.
Council members accepted the award and thanked district staff; the district said it looks forward to continued partnership to protect residents from mosquitoes and mosquito-borne illness.
