Planning commission continues housing-element site inventory item to April 16 at applicant’s request

The Santa Clara Planning Commission opened the public hearing March 19 on a proposed general-plan amendment to the 2023 housing-element sites inventory and agreed to continue the item to April 16 at the applicant’s request.
Staff explained the proposal would delete one site from the inventory and add a site described as the Kiley Mission Point project; the applicant asked additional time to finalize precise wording and site descriptions. Staff requested the commission open the public hearing and then continue the item so the proposed language can be revised and re-published. The commission accepted that request and continued the hearing to April 16.
One public commenter, Jaime Vasquez, spoke in support of ensuring that housing developments be built by contractors who pay area-standard wages, use state‑certified apprenticeship programs and protect workers’ rights; that comment was part of the public‑hearing record and will be considered when the item returns.
The motion to continue to April 16 was made and seconded and passed unanimously.
The continued hearing will be noticed and staff will return with the revised site inventory language, supporting staff report and any revised materials for public review before April 16.
