Principals report steady enrollment, Beta Club induction, FFA activities and upcoming performances and events

School leaders at the March 3 Fayetteville City Board of Education meeting reported student enrollment figures and recent and upcoming student activities.
Ralph Haskins Elementary (as reported): Pre-K 64, kindergarten 107, first grade 87, second grade 68, third grade 80, fourth grade 90 and fifth grade 72 — a total the presenter gave as 568 students. The elementary reported a Beta Club induction on Feb. 24 that added 13 new members; the sponsor set a 95 overall average as the qualification for induction. Beta Club members also collected 560 donated cans for Hands of Mercy as a community service activity.
Fayetteville Middle School enrollment figures reported were: sixth grade 66, seventh grade 61 and eighth grade 74, a total of 201 students. The middle school took eighth-grade superlatives for photos at Stonebridge Park and the Lincoln County Museum; students later had a luncheon.
Upcoming events noted in the reports include a districtwide Read Across America celebration with dress-up days and guest readers and a cafeteria special (green eggs and ham) on Friday of that week; a mock-interview program for seniors and a Freshman Forum evening for prospective students starting at 6 p.m. with a presentation scheduled for 6:10 p.m.; report cards to go home after spring break on March 20; and a third-quarter awards ceremony scheduled for March 28 at 9 a.m.
The high school theater department reported a March production with multiple performances, including a matinee and evening shows. The drama teacher said the production schedule will include performances on Friday and Saturday and additional shows across that weekend.
