The library director told the commission sensors had been adjusted to prevent inadvertent door activations triggered by staff activity in a nearby workroom; staff are now working on reducing door‑closure times to limit unauthorized entry or “piggybacking.” The director said the main library’s automatic door closure is about 12–15 seconds, and the North branch’s door is about 30 seconds; a vendor will be asked to help shorten timing to meet ADA and building‑code concerns while maintaining safe access.
The director said staff will continue testing with employees and a vendor and that the sensors and timing changes have reduced the “wild door flinging” issue experienced earlier. Staff also said a trivia night event is being planned for early May with about five to six teams expected; logistics for team sign‑ups and audience seating are being finalized.
The commission moved to receive and file the library director’s report; the motion passed without objection.
