Board recognizes Easton Clay Target team, national board-certified teachers and other local honors

The Talbot County Board of Education on March 19 accepted a $4,500 donation from the Waterfowl Festival to the Education Foundation, presented by festival volunteers.
The board recognized the Easton High School Clay Target team for a successful inaugural season. Mayor Megan Cook, head coach Joe Capizzoli and student athletes reported the team started with 11 competitors, placed multiple athletes in conference top-10 rankings and had individual conference winners, including Austin Eder (first among male athletes). The presentation noted community involvement through volunteering at the Waterfowl Festival and other local events.
The board also congratulated Dr. Amy Palmer on completing a Doctor of Education degree and announced that Brian Femi, the high school baseball coach, was inducted into the National High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame for 2025.
Superintendent’s remarks highlighted a group of recently National Board Certified teachers and a list of finalists for Teacher of the Year; several were called to the dais and publicly recognized. The board applauded the achievements of teachers and staff, noting the rigor of the national-board certification process.
These recognitions were presented during the public-recognition portion of the agenda; no board policy changes or votes resulted from the awards and donations portion beyond acceptance of the Waterfowl Festival gift.
