The West Haven City Council on March 19 approved Resolution 13-2025 to amend a contract with Bowen Construction for the installation of three additional bleacher units at R. Kenneth Baldwin Country Park.
A city representative told the council Bowen would install the three sets at the same unit price paid for two previously purchased units. The total amendment cost is $112,500. The representative said ground preparation could start immediately, the first two units would be installed while the city waits for the third to arrive, and the third unit is expected in 10 to 12 weeks. Installation of the already-received units was described as taking "about a month" during discussion.
Council member Kahl identified clerical errors and language requiring correction in the contract draft, including an incorrect article reference and a phrase reading "county parker bleacher" that should say "country park bleacher." Kahl also asked that a payment/measurement line be updated to reflect three bleachers rather than two; staff said those edits would be made.
Council members also requested that the ADA ramp orientation be confirmed so ramps align with park sidewalks; staff confirmed the change could be made with no impact on cost or schedule.
A motion to adopt Resolution 13-2025, with the recommended corrections from Council member Kahl, carried on a roll-call vote. Council member Morrish, Council member Saunders, Council member Dixon, Council member Kahl and Council member Schwab each voted "Aye."
