West Haven council approves rezoning at 4000 South and 4700 West after property owner objects

The action followed testimony from Lisa Jones, who said she and co-owners have held the land since 1988 and that zoning maps from 2001 and a 2014 city map showed the property as C-2. "We had never received any indication or notification that the zoning of our ground had changed," Jones said, adding, "We believe an error has been made." Jones asked the council to rezone the northeast corner of the intersection back to C-2.
The council then moved to act on the planning commission recommendation. A motion to approve Ordinance 02-2025 was made and seconded; the item passed on a roll-call vote. Council member Saunders, Council member Schwab, Council member Kahl, Council member Morse and Council member Dixon each voted "Aye." The motion carried.
Ordinance 02-2025 applies to parcel number 081980005. The council did not identify any conditions or amendments to the rezoning during the recorded discussion.
Council members did not raise additional substantive questions after Jones’s statement and moved directly to the vote.
