The Middleton City Council authorized the mayor to enter into a contract with S and S Concrete for up to $11,653.75 to replace a section of sidewalk and a driveway approach immediately west of the Middleton Public Library.
Staff described the stretch as deteriorated and not meeting ADA standards; the project will include curb, gutter and a new driveway approach. Staff said the section sits between the library and a small city office building currently occupied by a parole office. The work is more than the city crew can handle and three contractors provided bids; staff recommended S and S Concrete as the lowest responsive bidder.
Council members moved and seconded the authorization and approved the contract by voice vote. Staff confirmed the work will be paid from the city budget, not the library budget, and that the contract amount is based on an estimate dated in January.
