Middleton council declares various Public Works items surplus and authorizes public auction

The Middleton City Council approved Resolution No. 522-25, declaring a list of Public Works equipment and supplies as surplus and authorizing their sale by public auction.
Staff provided a line-item readout of the items recommended as surplus, which included a back medic check valve, EZ Liner paint sprayer, several fire hydrants, a log splitter, a roller trailer, small engines, street lights (not the one proposed for reuse on Middleton Road), a case compactor, a Calabula belt pump, valves and fittings, a SmartPoint ABS water master pump, repair clamps, an ice machine, a BW gas detector, a Medotech 480 UniBelt slide-in patcher, decorative trash cans, truck toolboxes and other miscellaneous items. Staff noted photos of the items were attached to the draft resolution for council review.
Council members moved and seconded approval; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff said some items were replaced or no longer needed (for example, the city purchased a new roller trailer to replace an older unit, and newer gas detectors replaced the older BW unit). Several items relate to older meter-reading equipment and pump replacements.
The resolution directs Public Works to sell the listed items by public auction; staff identified the likely auction vendor as the firm that has handled similar sales in the past.
