Eaton County commissioners approve multiple resolutions including park land grant application, public safety and emergency-alert agreements

The Eaton County Board of Commissioners approved several resolutions and motions during its public meeting, including a memorandum of understanding with the city of Grand Ledge on construction codes, multiple grant applications and funding agreements for public safety and elections, and a Department of Natural Resources trust fund grant application to expand Lincoln Brick Park.

The actions, taken largely by voice vote with “Aye” recorded, included authorization to apply for and accept outside funding and to enter intergovernmental memoranda of understanding. Many items were presented with short staff remarks and little discussion before approval.

Why it matters: The votes authorize use of outside funding and intergovernmental agreements that affect county emergency alerting, traffic enforcement, parkland acquisition, election security and drain-related contractual work. Several of the approvals also commit county staff time and, in one case, budget amendments to cover contracted services.
