Housing Authority authorizes negotiations after closed session on affordable housing site

The Harrisonburg Housing Authority authorized staff on March 19 to proceed with contract negotiations to acquire real property for affordable housing after a closed session held under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
The board met in closed session under the authority of Virginia Code 2.2-3711(A)(3), which permits discussion of acquisition of real property for public purposes. Staff said they will notify the board when the process is finalized and when a date is scheduled with Harrisonburg City Council, which may be required for final approvals.
