Hallandale Beach honors PAL cheer team, recognizes police community unit and awards chief national 'Do Good' honor

Police Athletic League cheerleaders and their coaches were brought to the dais by Police Chief Michael and Jonathan Carrillo for a certificate of achievement. Head coach Natasha ("Tasha") and her assistant coaches described a season that included regional and national competition victories; the commission lauded the girls for fundraising uniforms and travel expenses without city funds.
Chief Michael introduced the department’s community involvement unit and the Police Explorers Post 110. Capt. Megan Jones, community relations staff and officers described outreach work including coordinated efforts to find shelter, provide short‑term lodging and re‑connect unhoused residents with family or supportive services. Department staff credited a combination of outreach, referrals and partnerships that produced multiple successful placements into shelter or family reunification.
Chief Michael also accepted a National Life Group "Do Good Heroes" award naming him the Florida winner; the award included a $1,000 check for a foundation of the chief’s choice and the city was notified the chief would be in contention for a national prize. In remarks, the chief credited his officers and civilian staff and dedicated the recognition to the department’s men and women in uniform.
Commissioners praised PAL, the volunteers and the department’s outreach work; the commission also encouraged public support for PAL programming and youth explorers.
