Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works staff told the Citizens Independent Transportation Trust on March 19 that the South Dade Transitway BRT design has achieved a preliminary gold standard under the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) rating and that operations are scheduled to begin this summer.
"Our BRT service has achieved gold standard," said Herman Jerenus of DTPW during a detailed project update. Staff described a 20‑mile, zero‑emission corridor with 14 center‑platform stations, off‑board fare collection, signal priority and dedicated right of way — features the ITDP uses to score BRT systems worldwide.
