Casey Hoberg, representing Downtown Houston Plus, said the promenade will convert seven additional blocks to a pedestrian-first space (joining existing closed blocks) and that the project builds on the pandemic-era More Space Main Street program. Hoberg said the design process included extensive public engagement: ''we created many different ways for people to find an opportunity to give feedback. '' He reported about 1,300 points of public feedback, more than 250 participants at focused workshops and a final public workshop in which 99% of attendees said the design reflected their aspirations for the street.
