A staff member introduced Senate Bill 72 as an act providing for presumptive eligibility under the Montana Medicaid program for certain home‑and‑community‑based services for persons with physical disabilities and older Montanans.
“SB 72 was introduced by Senator Iacowicz by request of the Children Families Health and Human Services Interim Committee. It is an act providing for presumptive eligibility under the Montana Medicaid grama for certain home and community based services for persons with physical disabilities and persons who are elderly,” a staff witness said when the bill was opened for a committee vote.
Vice Chair Butchery moved Amendment 72.2.1, which the committee described as allowing the Department of Public Health and Human Services to apply for a demonstration waiver and a state plan amendment immediately upon passage and to implement provisions once CMS approval is received; the amendment also included a contingent effective date. The amendment was approved by voice vote, with proxies announced for several members.
Vice Chair Butchery then moved that the committee concur in Senate Bill 72 once amended. The committee took a roll call. Members recorded on the roll call announced “aye” votes, and the clerk reported “21 for aye, 0 for nay.” The motion to concur once amended passed.
The committee discussed assignment of a House carrier for the bill in the coming days and noted a subsequent housekeeping amendment would be prepared. The action concluded with the committee exiting executive action and ending the day's business.
Official record in committee shows the amendment passed and the committee concurred in SB 72 21‑0.
