Spring ISD recognizes student achievements, campus awards and an administrator honor at March board meeting

The Spring ISD Board of Trustees recognized students, campuses and staff accomplishments during the March 18 meeting, highlighting extracurricular achievement and external awards.
Cynthia Williams, director of career and technical education, introduced winners of the Spring Tri Club court and invited the board to the Spring Livestock Show and Fair April 10–12. The Tri Club event supports 4‑H, FFA and FCCLA students and provides scholarship opportunities; staff said the show has awarded scholarships and generated fundraising through auctions and donations.
The board also acknowledged student winners from the district’s Black History Month projects across elementary, middle and high school divisions and spotlighted the district spelling-bee champion, Derek Espinal of Jenkins Elementary, who will represent Spring ISD at the Scripps regional spelling bee March 22. Trustees recognized campus achievements: Children at Risk awarded "gold ribbon" status to Spring Leadership Academy, Roberson Middle School and Carl Wunsche Sr. High School for meeting the nonprofit’s criteria on achievement and growth.
Finally, the board honored Kimberly Doucette, principal of DeWitt Middle School, who was recognized March 14 by the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members (TCBSBM) as its Texas Administrator of the Year; the board noted Ms. Doucette received a cash award and travel award at the ceremony and highlighted her years of district service and ongoing doctoral studies.
