Board approves bids for Minooka Elementary walk‑in freezer and Minnequa Junior High interior door replacements

Director of Nutrition Services and Operations described the Minooka Elementary project as a specialty replacement for a combined walk‑in freezer/cooler that was original to the building and had become unreliable and undersized for the school’s breakfast and lunch programs. The district applied for and received a $50,000 state maintenance matching grant; administrators recommended awarding the bid to Rescor for a project amount of $110,005, with the state grant covering $50,000 and the remaining roughly $60,000 funded from this year’s budget.
Regarding Minnequa Junior High, administrators said 12 additional interior doors that had sustained damage will be replaced; the district plans to add a protective cover plate to reduce future damage. The door work will be funded by life safety funds and the board approved a $33,700 bid award to Wonder Lick Doors, a vendor previously used by the district.
Both motions passed on roll calls recorded as unanimous.
