Show Low council approves rezoning to let White Mountain Bible Church expand facilities

Planning staff (Mr. Tragaskas) told the council that the Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval at its Feb. 25, 2025 meeting by a 7-0 vote, subject to compliance with federal, state and local requirements. He said the applicant provided a conceptual plan showing a proposed building site for a new sanctuary, additional parking and future athletic fields. Staff reported that property owners within 300 feet had been notified and that no objections were received; one phone inquiry to staff asked general questions.
The staff report noted the site previously had been rezoned in 2007 from R43 (agricultural/residential) to R2-7 to allow condominium development. Mr. Tragaskas explained that schools, places of worship and similar community uses are a permitted use in the C2 zoning district.
The council opened the public hearing; no members of the public spoke, and the hearing was closed. Vice Mayor (name not specified) moved to adopt the ordinance; Councilman Adams seconded the motion. The ordinance was read by title by the city clerk and passed unanimously.
