Summary
After a competitive RFQ process, the Minooka 201 board approved Archon Associates as the district's architect of record and authorized a project to complete a comprehensive district‑wide facility assessment covering about 625,000 square feet.
The Minooka Community Consolidated School District 201 Board of Education voted to approve an architect general agreement with Archon Associates and separately authorized a project to conduct a comprehensive district‑wide facility assessment.
Chief School Business Official Mary Robinson described a competitive selection process: the district issued an RFQ, received 16 submissions, invited three finalists to present to a search committee and recommended Archon as the top choice. "Archon stood out because of their extensive experience in K‑12 school projects," Robinson said, noting that more than 95% of Archon’s work focuses on PreK–12 education and that the firm brings in‑house specialists including a registered roof consultant and sustainable design professionals.
The board approved a master architect agreement and an attached project authorization that launches a facility assessment spanning all district sites. Under the authorization, Archon will begin kickoff and site visits as early as spring break, with the assessment intended to run through the end of the school year and inform a five‑ to 10‑year facilities plan.
Administrators said the assessment covers roughly 625,000 square feet of district facilities and will include roof, life‑safety, mechanical, electrical and plumbing reviews; Archon representatives said the team will use drone photography and consultant walkthroughs to evaluate conditions. "The goal is to create a 5 to 10 year plan for you guys, so just to see through our eyes...where your facilities are at," said Archon principal VP Trinn during brief remarks to the board.
Board members praised the firm selection process and the recommendation. The motions to approve the architect general agreement and the project authorization each passed on roll calls recorded as unanimous.
Ending: The facility assessment work is set to begin immediately with site visits planned during spring break; administrators said results will be used for strategic planning and budgeting for maintenance and future projects.
