Members also flagged repeated problems with permit expediters: when an expediter applies on behalf of a client, the ultimate client sometimes is unaware of the approval conditions and no representative of the client is on-site at the event. The committee included language in a resolution asking the Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) to require that the actual applicant or a designated client representative be present on site for approved events.
A committee member noted an unusual side effect: an AI-written article about an agricultural/automotive activation referencing the committee meeting appeared in web searches soon after the application was discussed.
The committee said it will forward the matter and its recommended SAPO changes to the full board; no final board vote was recorded during the executive committee meeting.
