HHC long-term care division reports 77% average occupancy and survey updates; CMS survey changes delayed

The Health and Hospital Corporation’s long-term care division reported an average daily census of 6,056 residents, or about 77% occupancy, and that roughly 75% of residents are covered by Medicaid.
Julie White, vice president of long-term care, summarized committee presentations including financial and compliance reports. She noted Creekside Village and Water’s Edge achieved deficiency-free life-safety code and emergency-preparedness surveys in February.
White also reported that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has delayed planned nursing-home survey changes; implementation is now scheduled to begin April 28 rather than in February or March, according to the committee update.
The division said it is focusing on increasing occupancy and workforce labor while maintaining quality, and that management agreements include performance-based incentives tied to quality metrics.
