Councilors introduce distracted‑driving and automated‑speed‑camera ordinances for April consideration

Councilor Havanman introduced a separate ordinance to add a new Article 15 to Chapter 38 (Traffic and Vehicles) related to automated speed cameras. That measure also was introduced "without prejudice" and staff were directed to include it on the April 8 agenda for subsequent action.
No formal council votes on the ordinance texts occurred during the work session beyond the recorded introductions; staff told the council both items would appear on the next regular meeting agenda for public consideration.
Why it matters: Both measures change traffic enforcement policy if adopted: distracted‑driving language amends an existing code section and the automated‑speed‑camera article would authorize camera‑based enforcement in specified locations under county rules.
