Permit issued to replace door with window at motel; magistrate finds compliance

A Bay County special magistrate on the record found compliance in a code-enforcement case after Bay County permitting staff issued and the property owner paid for a permit to replace a door with a window at a motel property. The county recorded that the permit was submitted and paid for on the fourteenth and the property owner ordered the window the same day as the hearing.
Robert Clarkson of Bay County code enforcement reported that permitting staff prepared and approved the window-replacement permit and that the permit will expire in September. Clarkson said that once the window work is complete the property owner could then seek a demolition permit for the balcony, if that remains necessary. The magistrate noted the filing and found the case in compliance; the magistrate said the county retains the ability to bring the matter back if the permit expires or the work is not completed and final inspections are not closed.
The owner present said, “I paid for the permit yesterday. I ordered the window today.” The magistrate said that the county would monitor permit expiration and closing of inspections and that the case would be dismissed for now but remain subject to re-opening if required.
