After convening in closed session to discuss personnel matters under the Texas Open Meetings Act (Texas Government Code §551.074), the South San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees reconvened in open session March 17 and approved the superintendent’s contract.
Board members recessed into closed session for deliberations on superintendent duties, evaluations and compensation, citing Texas Government Code 551.074. When the board returned to open session, a motion was made to approve the contract “as discussed in closed session.” The motion passed on a roll‑call vote recorded as unanimous: Raymond Tijerina — yes; Carla Gomez Sanchez — yes; Daryl Balderrama — yes; Aurelina Prado — yes; Jesus Rendon III — yes; Adrian Guerra — yes; Kelly Murguia — yes.
Board President Raymond Tijerina announced the vote and then brought the meeting to adjournment. The board did not provide contract terms during open session.
Because the deliberations occurred in closed session, the board said no action would be taken in closed session; the open‑session vote approved the contract outcome discussed in private.
